Welcome to the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Licensure page. This page is designed to provide a clear, streamlined pathway for educators dedicated to bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world industry expertise. Whether you are a seasoned professional transitioning from the field into the classroom or a current teacher looking to expand your endorsements, you will find the essential requirements, application procedures, and certification standards necessary to empower the next generation of the workforce. Our goal is to support you in maintaining the highest professional standards while fostering specialized skills in your students.
It is the educator’s professional responsibility to ensure that their license is up-to-date with the Nevada Department of Education, and that all initial licensing provisions outlined when they received their license are removed within the timeframe provided by the Department.
If you have any other questions regarding licensure, contact the Licensure Office at NDE.
There are two different kinds of CTE licenses:
Business and Industry License
Secondary Career and Technical Education License
Both licenses allow a qualified individual to teach in high school career and technical assignments that align with that license, however the pathway to obtain each type of license is different.
The Nevada Department of Education’s Licensure Page outlines the requirements for each.
Once an individual has received verification of licensure from the State, they can begin applying for an open CTE position with the Clark County School District that aligns with that license.
The Human Resources Department of the CCSD will have current alignment. There is also a State Correlation Directory available on the NDE website.
Once a newly licensed educator receives their endorsement, it will show several Provisional courses they need to take and remove from their license before they are fully licensed with the state. The CTE Department provides courses each semester to remove those provisions. Please review the manual below for more information.
Maintaining your Career and Technical Education (CTE) credential ensures you stay at the forefront of industry standards and pedagogical excellence and allows you to continue teaching with the Clark County School District.
To keep your certification active, all educators must complete the necessary professional development credits and submit their renewal application before the current license expires. For comprehensive details on requirements, timelines, and the submission process, please visit the official Nevada Department of Education Licensure Renewals page.
After renewal, ensure that your office manager has a copy of your current license in your personnel file at your school site.
